I suddenly have to drop out of the hatch a long... I had to make a go fund me... http://www.gofundme.com/lv0240 I have to sell all my chickens, ducks and turkeys. Anyone in ohio that can take a pet turkey? She is 2 years old and loves to cuddle! I don't want her to go to a home where they will butcher her!

This is very sad, sorry for all of the troubles!

So I am thinking of getting a digital thermostat for my Little Giant Styrobater because with the set up at our new house, I won't be able to put the incubator in a place where I can check on it as often as I would like to, especially at night.  I would feel much better being able to set the thermostat to an exact temperature instead of fiddling back and forth with the little temp knob, even with a milk cap screwed on it!

I think Oz recommended this model - http://www.amazon.com/Lerway-All-Purpose-Temperature-Controller-Thermostat/dp/B008KVCPH2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424809413&sr=8-1&keywords=stc-1000   but this one is only in Celcius, and I would rather have Farenheit.  I found two options on Amazon, and wonder if they look ok to those of you who have done this sort of thing before....

And also, do I need to get any other electrical connectors or wiring to attach it to the LG?  Are there precise directions on how to do that on BYC somewhere?

THANKS!!! :)
Joyful, I bought a number of digital thermostats similar to these on eBay and switched all my incubators over to them, including my Hovabator. The AllPurpose STC 1000 in F is probably what you are looking for, but it is not what I have, and I really don't know about the ones you listed. Sally Sunshine posted a wiring diagram for Digital Thermostats in her article in Hatching 101. Rush Lane did also on his website, as well as on his videos for constructing incubators. There's a fellow, psgflier, who does a great 3 part video on UTube on how to install a Willhi 7016, and many of the units on the market today come with wiring diagrams and instructions. You will need wire nuts (or wall nuts, if you prefer those), lamp cord or an old extension cord, wire strippers, small screwdriver, and good eyesight/glasses and patience. Good luck with your project. Hope you can get good help if you need it, these are so worth it. Laurie in Berthoud

Hatch rates will be lower for eggs older than 2 weeks. Shipped eggs should not be older than 7 days because of the added stress from shipping.

Older eggs will still hatch--I would not set eggs older than 30 days and if I did I would watch them very closely for rotting.

Thank you ron for this information!

So sorry to hear this. It is certainly understandable why you need to back out. I hope your situation improves soon.

Very sorry to here this. I am over in Michigan, if no one wants to take the turkey, I can see if I can make room for it here :) All poultry are pets here.

turned on the incubator yesterday, "NASA all systems are GO". Hoping for another brahma egg today then countdown begins on my hatch before the Easter H-a-L. I have had to go out every hour looking for eggs because of the cold weather. Ten day forecast is terrible for my incubating plans, only three reasonable temperatures out of ten. Now back to the coffee thread.
