I see you also got eggs from ladycat! We'll be egg buddies :) What did you order?

Um? I am getting 6 Sermas and 36 assorted. I just hope I get a good amount of chicks that hatch. I have had too many fails. Wish me luck!

I got olive eggers and a couple assorted from her. Some of our hatched chicks may be related :) Good luck with your hatch, I'm sure you'll do well!

I think you would miss an automatic turner. I have good results with my lowley little Hova-Bator and would not consider using it without the egg turner. -DB
I think I'm going with the Genesis Hova-Bator 1588 because I have a turner. Now if it just comes in time.

Thanks for the help.

QUESTION for you amazing peeps:

I just ordered my first shipped eggs; seramas. any recommendations on letting the settle? I have no idea what to do and want to get the best hatch rate I can get from these guys :)

Hi,

Congrats on your new emdeavor!
After inspection I put mine, pointy end down, in a clean cardboard egg carton and let them rest for 24-36 hours in my cool basement.
I then bring them up to room temp for 12-24 before putting them in the incubator. All the while I will gently rotate the eggs 2-3 times a day and letting my incubator prove it is rock steady for temps.
Read the Hatching 101 in the education center, as well as any other relevant articles or forums. Brinsea.com has a few excellent articles on hatching parameters, etc.
BYC is here to help.
Best wishes for a happy hatching.

thanks so much!

I got my wine cooler today. It cost $50. Around here that was a great price for a broken one. Now's the time to tell me what I need to buy next to make this a great hatcher. I know there are several of you on here that have made your own incubators and hatchers. I'm all ears. However that chicp that one programs to work with hardware might be a step or a mile above my computer programming skills. I did google the thing just to confirm, its not anywhere near my level.
Here are some pictures:

I'm getting the mix from ladycat.
me too!!! Wood heat so always warm and it's been upper 50s the past 2 day

Oh good! We use our fireplace to heat our home at times. They're sure invaluable!

Good night, Cynthia :) And everyone else (except for Oz. Good morning, Oz!)
