I have lost my mind this year... cots, button quail, Legbars, and old english game. Seriously? Someone keep me away from the egg auctions... at least until I finish building the new incubator.

Did we ever hear back from the member with the washed eggs experiment on the method they used? I tried all the "dry" options with no luck. I'm going to TSC today for the egg wash.

Day 20 for me right now! No rocking or rolling yet. This is the WORST. I had a few temp spikes and I'm so afraid they're all dead now.

don't panic yet! I just had a hatch yesterday and 10 out of 11 hatched. I had a temp spike to 103 and a drop to 93 during their incubation. It was in the last few days though. Fingers crossed for a great hatch!

I finally moved one of my chicks from December out into her new coop today. her roo is going in Saturday after we SET THE EGGS! haha
I probably sound really bad putting the chicks out this late, but its just now getting nice out and I like to pamper everyone

I collected 4 eggs today...one of them had a hole in the top, so either it was an accident, or I once again have a curious egg eater!

I finally moved one of my chicks from December out into her new coop today. her roo is going in Saturday after we SET THE EGGS! haha
I probably sound really bad putting the chicks out this late, but its just now getting nice out and I like to pamper everyone

I collected 4 eggs today...one of them had a hole in the top, so either it was an accident, or I once again have a curious egg eater!

Yes, we are working on several more--Mike and Sumi each have one.

I have seen a couple of interesting single nest roll out nest boxes. Permier1 sells a nice one that is all plastic. The other one is metal and I think Cutler or Jeffers had it. I have one of the premier nest boxes and it is very nice!

Well the Maran BC and BLC eggs arrived and I went ahead and set them today instead of waiting for the 13th/ They had a rough trip from the post office and came 5 days late in a crushed box. I set 18 of them with 4 from my newly laying Cornish hen. Hope to get something from this but not very confident at this point.

Thanks! On my last hatch I had ONE pip on day 21, and it stayed like that for the whole day. I finally went to bed and woke up to a fat wet chick. After that they were like popcorn.

It's just waiting for that first pip that is the worst!

Mine were hatched November and they still aren't out yet.

It's just starting to get above freezing here so the "plan" is to start doing what I need to to the coop ready so as soon as the nights stay above freezing they can move out!

What kind of eggs do u have cree ?

I have Birchon Marans, Black Copper Marans, (These are in their own breeding pens).
EE's (The hens include white marans, australorps, ameracauna, wellsummers and EE's). The roos in that pen are OE and EE. This group free ranges.
There is currently an Astralorp roo in with the blue copper marans as well as their BCM roo, so those will be a surprise, The CCL hens and a leghorn hen are in there too with the australorp and BlueCopperMarans.
I'm building new breeding pens for the australorps, CCL's, lav. orp., and the lavendar ameracaunas eggs I'm getting for the EHAL right now. I will have more room to separate everybody then.

Thanks for the advice - I'm running my homemade bator to get it up to temp. i checked my thermometers against my Brinsea, and they're all off! My acuright is showing 8% less humidity than the Brinsea is showing. But hopefully everything will go well and I'll habe some chicks starting Friday!
