Ok!! I have an external pip, but it's down near the pointy end of the egg. Is this a malpositioned chick? Is it too soon to tell?

This is only my second hatch, and the last time I did them upright in cartons.

We are having a LOVELY pre-Spring thaw right now!

40's & 50's with lots of Sunshine! Melting snow and sloppy mud everywhere! Unfortunately the warmer temps are bringing out predators - a nasty coon managed to open a spring latch on my Plymouth Rock coop night before last, and killed one of my Blue Rock pullets!!!

Thankfully it was not one of my favorite ones, but still!!

So my brother set a live trap in front of the coop last night and we CAUGHT the varmint and shot him!! My poor chickie is avenged!

We will definitely be keeping a closer watch out there now.

Just got the call from the post office my eggs from ladycat are here!!!!! Now it's time to play sick at work so I can go get them lol.
