Welcome to the 2015 Easter Hatch A Long!
list up to date to post 4421
I had a hen that was almost that bad last year. She got donated as a stewing hen to another family. I had a Tom that would do that, too. He once grabbed an egg out of my hand and tried to wolf it down whole! Needless to say, he got tackled and I got the egg back intact. And the Tom was delicious.I have golf balls and fake eggs in mine, she waits until one hen lays a egg then she runs her out of the nest box goes in eat it, then she walks the ramp past all the others waiting for her next egg. while in the kennel she has eaten her own egg.
Wow! Super geese! You'd better let us know how they are when they hatch out. I'll be interested to see if they have x-Ray vision and a sensitivity to Kryptonite. My geese are still in the running!Candled two days after accidentally misting them with disinfectant cleaner instead of distilled water. The vasculature was still present, and there were no rings of death. They were not happy about being candled, but it was reassuring to watch them protest within their eggs. (Frankly I'd protest too if someone hit me with that much candle power before my eyelids developed!!) They also still smelled fabulous. So far, these poor eggs spent an overnight half submerged in near freezing melt water, and got deodorized and disinfected. At this point, I am pretty sure that they are not actually geese, but some mutant super-avian species bent on world domination... Which are scheduled to hatch out Easter day...

Well she is gorgeous!Silver Phoenix. Thank you!
Bwahahaha!! Your kids can come to my house to see my turkeys any time they want!
Don't give up the hatch just yet. The first time I used my Little Giant it spiked a temp of 137*F. I lost many of the eggs but nearly half made it into lock down.Well I am sick to my stomach ! I checked on my Temp and the display on my new F I Pro Series reads 100.5. I have two acurite thermometers in there and one read 108 and the other 109. And the worst part the high on each one read 127 and 120.
What's even worse is last night I took a picture through the window of all the thermometers like I have been doing which makes it easier to read. BUT I only looked at the thermometer display on the Bator which has held steady at 100.5. I see now that the spike happened sometime yesterday or ??????
I've been sick and of course Sat night I did t go to bed until 6 am Sunday Am.....with all this egg setting eggcitement.
I don't know whether to be ****** off or sad or both....Guess I am both. Not to mention I spent a lot of money on shipped eggs.
Even sadder I was in town (while the spikes were no doubt happening) buying another incubator cause I thought $94.5 was a good price for a digital Bator with a turner and fan. Oh and it doubles as an egg cooker ! Put a call in to FI. There going to call back. They said it is a new Bator no complaints yet. I'm first.
Aww.I'm out, broody quit on me and I have no incubator. Maybe next time. I'll be watching everyone else's progress.
Very lovely assortment of eggs you have there!!!
I really wanted those BCM and EE/OE babies.Aww.Maybe she'll stick during the next HAL![]()
