Sorry about your hen.

Thank you!

I've turned our furnace up 1 degree from 70 to 71 and it seems to help quite a bit in stabilizing the temp in the 'bator. I need to add a little more water but that is far easier than playing with the temps!

Technically I shouldn't candle my eggs until after 10:30 pm tomorrow, but you know I'm going to do it sooner!

I've been good and haven't messed with them. But I can only hold out for so long. And besides I may be asleep by 10:30pm.

That's my story.

You know, that would be a great contest: alternate uses for a Little Giant still air incubator... :lau

The forced air models are worse. That pretend fan makes demonic noises.
I have been using mine to start veggie seeds. It seems to work well and the plants dont seem to mind the 20 degree temp spikes

Ok, my last 7 chicks that were supposed to hatch Sunday or Monday I checked today. The other day when checking for live ones I tossed about 15 eggs. The 15 died in the stretch between days 10-21. I had 3 specific ones that should have hatched. The blood was drawn in and yoke was in tummy but died when they should have pipped through. I checked them by opening the air sack. When I opened the air sack 7 were still alive.

I wrapped the opening with wet paper towel. I had to go in a couple times and wet the towels again... Approx 3 more times to keep them moist. I had already filled the channel trays with water. This morning when I checked them individually, I think 4 more died last night. The Thermometer is reading right at 100. It came with the bator. So I think it is pretty close to 99.9. I AM KILLING MY CHICKS AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!

I left them in the bator just in cause.... My hopes are diminishing.
I'm new to hatching and don't have any advice, just sorry to hear.

I have tried, tried, and tried everything possible to get good hatches with that bator. Nothing works. I sold my 9300 on craigslist for $10 and apologized to the person who bought it.
I then "upgraded" to the 10300 forced air model. It has a pretend fan.
The only thing the digital little giants could possibly be used for is an emergency floation device in case of flooding

NOOOOOOOO! It all makes sense now! The bator I lost 100+ eggs to over the past 3 months is THIS one. I got 2 chicks out of all of it. The lady I borrowed it from could not get anything to hatch over sever. Tries. I guess getting 2 chicks is good. :( I now have the HOVA incubator 1602N thermal air. I am still losing a lot of eggs. :hit

The other night, my husband and I were trying to say the word rural. Go ahead - do it. Say the word rural out loud without sounding like an animal. It was so funny to the both of us. Possibly because we were exhausted. But really, it is funny. Rural is such a horrible word to say - but now I just giggle every time I think about it. And we just say it randomly to each other and start laughing. LOL. Our teenagers think we're crazy.

I would imagine the answer is "no". My understanding was that the total number of eggs that hatch will be counted in a different contest. Clears and quitters would still count toward the original number set, if I'm correct.
Yep. :)

I've been that way these last couple of days but I can't wait until day 10. I'm going in tomorrow afternoon, even though I didn't set until 10:30pm Saturday. What are the advantages of waiting an extra (long) 3 days?

For me its just a personal decision, I feel like over handling and over candling doesnt benefit the eggs so Im not in any rush really.
