The other night, my husband and I were trying to say the word rural. Go ahead - do it. Say the word rural out loud without sounding like an animal. It was so funny to the both of us. Possibly because we were exhausted. But really, it is funny. Rural is such a horrible word to say - but now I just giggle every time I think about it. And we just say it randomly to each other and start laughing. LOL. Our teenagers think we're crazy.

Ok...So I have never hatched my own chicks. It is horrible anticipation! My Super Reliable Chocolate Orpington girl is on it!!! I have some shipped eggs and some home brewers. Fancy Orpies

...Last night my daughter and I couldn't help ourselves and took a peek at 2 eggs. One of ours and one shipped....Little heart beats♡♡♡♡♡Yea! Come on Easter!

Boy lots of posts gone for 1/2 day .... It will take me hour to catch up.
Lots of eggs now.
The brahmas are starting o lay. Roo looks sicky this morning you might know....

NOOOOOOOO! It all makes sense now! The bator I lost 100+ eggs to over the past 3 months is THIS one. I got 2 chicks out of all of it. The lady I borrowed it from could not get anything to hatch over sever. Tries. I guess getting 2 chicks is good.

I now have the HOVA incubator 1602N thermal air. I am still losing a lot of eggs.

I personally love these bators..the still air..I've had so many good hatches in them.

The new Farm Innovators 4250 digital incubator just arrived in the mail this morning... now to see if I can get it to stabilize so that I can use it as a hatcher in a few weeks. Then I am going to on the lookout for turkey eggs

So far 9 eggs show signs of development ! YAY! I will candle the remaining 3 for a few more days before tossing.

The forced air models are worse. That pretend fan makes demonic noises.
I have been using mine to start veggie seeds. It seems to work well and the plants dont seem to mind the 20 degree temp spikes

I also was thinking--the funky bators that are not reliable would be good enough to warm up new eggs to add to the "other bator" for staggered hatches....that way the new eggs don't drop the temp of the "already incubating eggs" when added...

Yikes, maybe I should just wait until lockdown when I take out the turner?

It is probably stuck because it is leaking so you'll want to get it out. Every time I've tried to remove one it broke. Last time I put all the other eggs in cartons while I got it out and then had to wash the turner. Won't hurt them to be out of the bator for 15-20 minutes while you take care of it and that is much better than having to wash broken egg out of the bator. I have learned to put a small strip of paper towel under any suspicious or shipped eggs before I put them in the turner. Helps if they don't seep too much.
