Hi @HappyChooks , I am not worried about the air sac, I am more worried about the weight loss from the day of setting. 2 of them have already lost 14%, 1 is at 12 and 4th one has 10% loss by now. So by lockdown, the situation would be even worse.

The one's in half the eggs have the same type of development as in other eggs and are moving albeit in half the egg (vertically half). Maybe something genetic (from the same hen)

Most of my eggs are doing the half shell thing. Mine lay on their side. Embryos stay on that side, even if it's not on the lowest point (does that make sense?). I think I've seen it in previous hatches, but I have a brighter light now and I'm seeing things that I couldn't see before, so I'm not sure. These eggs are from my hens and a friends. Not the same breeds. Hers are pure and mixed, so certainly not genetic. We don't feed the same feed or live too close to each other. I dip her eggs in a weak bleach solution before putting them in the bator with my eggs (haven't had any problems doing that). So the only thing in common is my incubator and I had some of the eggs in a second one until day 9 1/2. I'm not going to worry about it. Oh, one more common thing. We had a cold snap during collection time and both our flocks almost stopped laying.

Ok, here is the clip that got taken off for a while. Got a notice in my mail that it was back on, because I made the comment..where did it go? It's cute..chickens think it's night during recent eclipse.
Watch to the end..pretty funny. Roo thinks it's morning. Quick rest!

Hey, I'm using a brinsea octagon and this is my first time using it. How can I lower the temperature for lockdown

I'm assuming it's the Octagon Eco and I wouldn't recommend lowering the temperature for lock down but you use the same little knob that you should have used to calibrate the incubator. It's near where the cable goes into the lid. You just turn it right or left to raise or lower the temperature. I've been using my Eco and have had great success with it thus far. I've never lowered the temperature for lock down and when I did my research on it there was no strong argument to do it so I don't and I've had no worse than a 70 % hatch rate each time.

Are you on prenatal vitamins? Have to ask. I have a son that was born with spina bifida. Went through a test they did for 5 yrs. .. the next time I decided to get pregnant. Before I even tried to get pregnant..I was to send blood to Washington, then, they sent me free Prenatal Vitamins. Took me three months of doing this before I got pregnant. Then, blood was sent again, then the wait. A healthy baby. After the 5 yr. test was done with many other participants..the news was, as most know now, that baby needs leafy greens, lots..and prenatal vitamins for the folic acid. They decided it's a mix of two things, this was at that time..genetic, and, the lack of folic acid. I have friends that have had two children with spina bifida. At the time I had him, this was the number one birth defect in our country. 1 baby born an hr. with this. Now, it's down the list. Thank goodness. Folic Acid! I was big time in helping with the public awareness back in the 80's, so this is why I am so adamant. My son was actually the poster boy for a while here in Utah for it. The public awareness has come around. Thank goodness. He is in his early 30's now, and living alone. That still makes mom nervous with all that he has going on, but he's doing it. :) That's him with Lindsey Sterling..he does a lot to manage her sites and announcements. He's in a chair now. Does well. This is me when I get started....
Actual prenatal vitamins tend to make me throw up within minutes of taking them during most pregnancies. I take them until I cant keep them down anymore then I switch to a calcium vitamin, an iron vitamin, and a frolic acid vitamin daily. I am just a few days past my missed period and am already having to fight not to throw up in the afternoon and evenings. I think I am either having a baby girl or a set of twins.

I wondered about that too. The 'contest' site asked for way to much information, imo. Nefarious Fishing...?

One of my eggs has the most bizarre air cell I've ever seen. It's on the side of the egg! The baby is big and healthy, but I have a feeling it won't be for long. Is there ANYTHING I can do to help it live?
