Un Popped!

How would un popped popcorn absorb moisture?

Something else may be going on in the incubator towards the end. Try leaving the humidity at 35% and using the cool down cycle. Another trick is to mist the eggs once a day too. You mist the eggs, take the top of and let the egg dry, up to two ours. The evaporation of the moisture makes the air cell grow.

The air cells will grow a lot during lockdown too. The chicks absorbing the yolk will pull it down.

Cool down cycle:

From days 8 to 18
turn off the incubator for two hours
taking the top off is optional--I like to leave it cracked but not off so they the cats do not mess with the eggs.
I think its the increase in humidity. It had been raining a lot the last week. The humidity in the house is 50ish most of the time. The house is way higher than the incubators. I have been doing cool down starting two days ago. My broody seems to know what she is doing so I never really bothered her.. This incubator can be something!

I read an article about the ability of ucooked popcorn to absorb water versus rice. uncooked popcorn was the clear winner--It has the ability to absorb a lot of water compared to rice.

i was wondering what the best breeds of chicken are for eggs and just for a lovely and fun chicken

My red star is the best layer, although definatly not my favorite breed. I'm not familiar with pretty, nice and good layers, as most of my birds are uncommon and don't lay much.

Is the cool down cycle & misting for chicken and duck eggs? It seemed like earlier everyone that was posting about it just had duck eggs.

Cool down cycle is for both. Chickens and ducks can benefit from Misting and it helps with Marans for sure. Make sure to stop both before lockdown.

Misting is necessary for Goose eggs
