Oh wow, smart little fluffy butts! My chickens took a while to get a hang of it lol.

I have one in my brooder, but they didn't seem to be drinking enough. I ended up adding a traditional jar waterer to make sure they were hydrated.

Well I was 49 for 50 at last candle, and everything was looking great. Woke up this morning and the bator was 104. No idea how long it had been like that. Today is day 14 for me, and I was going to candle tonight. I'm almost afraid to do it, now. The eggs felt pretty hot when I turned them.

I skyped my friend in England earlier and candled an egg for her. Still got some movement in at least one SS egg. . So I'll candle tonight and hope for the best.

today was full of mixed emotions. i went to tsc and got 6 bantys, im thinking 4 phoenix, 1 frizzle cochin and an unknown. i went to check the chickens after and found one of my favorite boys dead in the coop. i just hatched him in december and im so upset. he was gorgeous. im thinking maybe he starved..i never saw him in the coop really, or he froze last night trying to get into the coop. im just so heartbroken. at least i have 6 more eggs of his type due to hatch on easter.

i just moved him to the coop he was in last week, and his dad wouldnt stop mounting him. when i found him was was cold, but limp, and he had no blood.

RIP my sweet little monty

So sorry, he was beautiful! I've heard that you all are getting cold out there..what's up with that? This weather this yr. is crazy from one end of the country to the other. This end is going to be in trouble from not getting enough moisture.
I hope you get some babies from him.

So I went outside to collect eggs and I find my duck in the coop with the eggs I left in there because I thought a hen was going to lay on them. She puffed up and grunted at me, I know she isn't harmful so I reached in and got the eggs out that were laid today. I'm worried that I've scared her and made her feel like I didn't want her laying on the eggs because she jumped out of the coop and ran to the water. Did I discourage her or will she go back?
I also don't know if the eggs I left in are good? I left them in there 10 days ago?
