Wow! Oz and Bama knew how to teach you that?   :gig    Ok...J/K guys!   Serious..that really nice..and..that's a lot of eggs!   I don't have enough land for that many chickens!     How many eggs do you have in there?

Lol. Oz did most of the teaching. I just held the flashlight

Early pip on my runner duck eggs in my friends bator =)

holm..love the photo. She looks so comfy cozy in her nest area. :)

Well..I have a pip!! Now I feel like I fit in on here. lol...it's one that I wouldn't have guessed would pip first. A pretty speckled egg, that is a Welsummer mix. Mama is the Welsummer, dad is an EE. Hope this one is a girl. Wouldn't mind getting some eggs like this one. Of course, there is a chance that she may come out with some green on those legs, and then a petty blue/green egg. Oh well.

Oh, have to add, this is in the other bator..that was quiet. :D

Congrats!!

SO we have 8 out. 2 are black and yellow. 2 are this gorgeous silver color (What breeds hatch silver???) and 3 that appear black w/o the yellow and one lonely yellow chick...lol There are 8 more pips that I can see. That leaves 20 eggs that I don't see any action with yet (most of them my spitzhaubens). We will be starting day 20 in about an hour, so still plenty of time. Just a few minutes ago I had a chick get hurt in the bator for the second hatch in a row. He was standing under the fan until and decided to stretch beak up and hit the fan. Had a small amount of blood in it's beak, but seems ok now. And people wonder why I prefer to move my chicks out asap. (And I just told someone not to worry about the fan, I've never had a chick get hurt on it.)

I need a nap.

Quote: Till I get the hang of this I am limiting my hatches to 2-3 dozen at a time. I only have 2 dozen in there now. But yes Oz and Bama helped with tell me about the digital controller and wiring. And I looked up some really videos on youtube by Rush Lane Poultry and he teaches you step by step how to do it and tells you where to get the parts for the best price. It's easy I may do one by myself just to have a small back up.
