75% is fine--watch for condensation on the window. If you see it, humidity is going too high.

It's unabsorbed yolk. Put it in a cup until the yolk absorbs and dries up. Do NOT pull on anything, and if the yolk ruptures, the chick will likely die. (at least all of mine that ruptured it died)

Yeah, the silkie that hatched yesterday had a ruptured one. He put up one heck of a fight, But he didn't make it. Not only was it ruptured but the membranes were as bloody as heck. He'd only been pipped for like 5 hours or so I think when he decided to bust out (the very top) of his egg. I'm curious to know what made him hatch so quick when he wasn't anywhere near ready.

Today's little bugger (who happens to be loud) is doing ok. She's sitting in a coffee cup and not liking it one bit, but the yolk is absorbing. I'd say 2/3 of the way. I don't ever pull anything on chicks. So I'm very hopefully for her/him.

I have 25 chicks in the brooder. 3 resting in the bator, 2 of which seem a little weaker than the rest. I have two more eggs that are pipped and just not ready. One of them I don't expect until tonight the other I am hoping will be ready to get out here soon. I had four eggs that I were sure were no gos so I pulled them out to candle. 3 were definite, but I got a surprise from the third and found taht he has internally pipped. I had made a note at lockdown that I didn't expect that one as it looked a little behind, but, he's alive, so we will wait another day for that one if I have too.

So, I'm counting on being able to say we had 32 hatch (counting the silkie w/the ruptured yolk sac) maybe 33 if the last one does anything, but I will be surprised he if makes it to external pip. I will know by bedtime tomorrow (if not sooner) what the final count is.
Oh and I have lots of adorable fluffy pics too...lol

my first chick out! its toes are curled i bet that is from the old incubators issues, i'll make it shoes tonight. all the other eggs are quiet, i see 2 internal pips but not external.

I will have a Brinsea Ocatgon 40 Advanced available for sale after the hatch. I just bought it before the EHAL. DW says that its the only way she can make sure I don't hatch that many chicks again
