The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Be sure to get back with us on how that works. I have been looking at that too. I dipped my eggs in vinegar last year and put them in the bator. I also added a teaspoon of vinegar to the water resevour (about a quart of water). I had problems with temp spikes that lost me eggs but when I broke the eggs open afterwards there was no green goo. Before I started using the vinegar I would get failed eggs with green goo. I was improvising from an article about dipping eggs in ascorbic acid (vitamin C). I didn't have any vitamin C but a remnant of Bio-Chemistry 101 from 30 years ago reminded me that vitamin C and vinegar were/are close cousins. So I am fairly certain that the vinegar dip kept down bacteria which will increase the chances of an egg making it to hatching. I don't have the resources to do a complete study with a control group of eggs from the same source in the same machine but if anyone wants to give it a try I would love to hear what your results are.
I'm going to try and do one for the HAL.

I will join and hatch chicken and quail

Thank you :) She's my baby he only got all puffed up and agitated because I was taking pictures and she didn't like the flash. Usually, I have no problem reaching under her and checking her eggs. All 6 of my hens are laying now. They all started one right after the other. I hatched 13 poults 2 weeks ago, have 30 eggs due to hatch this week and 100 more in the bator :)
Lol that's allot of eggs!

I got the seeds this year from some specialty pumpkin kinds, like red, blue, warty, and others... I grew a 80lb one the first year, and this year nothing, so next year I will be putting out about 500 plants, 200 pumpkin and 300 sunflower, and of course strawberries, raspberries, grapes, mint, and of course blueberries!!! I love my gardening... But ya I heard you can eat the eggs after deworming, but I wonder what effects it does with incubating the eggs.

Cool! Different kinds of pumpkins are so fun, and have you tried growing corn? I love growing corn, it is very addicting for me to collect the different colored kernels lol
