The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Well, 15 hatched overnight, and there's another 10 or so pips, so my hatch is finally underway.

This is how the tray looks when its in the bator

Congratulations! What breeds are you hatching again?

Thanks! Do you have pics of the woolly? My cockerel has a mulberry comb. Another roo from his hatch had silver hackles. The breeder said they only showed up after the juvie molt, which is why I'm not selling anything until much later. I'm going to have to do some heavy culling first, I think. Only one of the chicks is black inside the mouth.

Overall I think I have a good start. Both breeders had stock from a crossing of GFF and ewecrazy farms.
Sorry that the pictures are not very good. It is quite cloudy here today and he wouldn't sit still

so most of the pictures were blurry. That is not color breakthrough in his hackles, it is feather shafts shedding.
Here he is next to his girl

The chicks.
Nice! If you are starting out with at least one with a black mouth, you are doing good. It will take a lot of breeding and a lot of judicious culling to make a good breeding flock. Most of mine still have pink/gray and gray/black mouths. My first cock had a very mulberry comb, but he produced some nice chicks and I am continuing to improve as I keep breeding. I started with 2 trios - 1 was the mulberry-combed cock from GFF over ECF hens, and the other trio was all GFF and produced the woolly chicks.

My color explosion continues. These are 2nd generation in my inbreeding trial. Fathers are pure BCMs, mothers are red sexlink/BCM crosses. Same fathers for both generations. The one on the left is a coloring I haven't seen before in my chicks, and I'm amazed at how many of them there are too. ...24 so far.

x2

Although, it reminds me of high school. We had a joker at school named Corey. He was African American (this is important for the story to be funny). Just after the 5th element came out, he got ahold of one of those bunny suits. He wore the thing to a basketball game. During half-time, he put on a show for people. The funniest moment was when he suddenly jumped, looked scared, and said, "I see white people"
That's a great story- I'm very amused with odd-looking Easter bunny costumes because when my son turned 1, we took him to the local mall to "meet the Easter bunny". The costume was probably new in the '70's and it was very worn and creepy-looking. I googled "creepy Easter bunny costume" and apparently just about every town has a creepy Easter bunny that visits local malls... some costumes are worse than others.

Nate there is usually a reason, in her mind anyway, for people to be that angry and hateful all the time. She may be dealing with issues at home or she feels unattractive and thinks she should be mean to everyone BEFORE they're mean to her. Using your common love of chickens would maybe allow you to get to know a little about her and why she's so angry. And there's the chance that she's just really spoiled and thinks her stuff don't stink. lol In that case stay FAR away.

We already know that it's becuase she is spoiled... Some people are just like that, for some dumb reason...

I think...I might ....HAVE to...perhaps..............oh, paint silkie eggs........ must resist......someone tape my fingers together so I can't type...
