Oooohhhkay.

GOOD Morning!

I am in. My newly formed plan (and likely unobtainable plan, at that!) Is to hatch EVERYTHING I want to keep for the year. This will be an extreme challenge to my planning skills and somewhat of an engineering feat... but I am going for it. Worst case scenario - I will be sitting in the corner in my incubator/hatching room, hiding under a chair, as chicks fly about causing chaos when I have no room for them all.
I will also need to gently persuade my turkeys, peahens, pheasants and quail to all start laying just a tad earlier... any suggestions

My chicks are outside, but slightly overcrowded. To encourage early laying add heat and light.

You will do fine!

Set up a series of grow out pens and move the hatched chick through them. The last place they go is into your flock at 16 weeks old.

Mine start in rubbermaid tubs, move to a brooder in the garage and then into a larger pen. When they make it to 16 weeks old or so then they move in with the flock or into breeding pens. You just have to time hatches so that they move through the system you set up.

I sell some of them and cockerels are processed.

Here are chicks I just took out of the incubator. There are 14 here and I have pips in the bator, but it was very crowded in there, so I got these guys out. They are isabel leghorns and isbar. There is one brown leghorn in there too.

you KNOW I am jealous!!

Bonnie I love your new avy!! so pretty!

Y'know, *she said thoughtfully* since the times for the random posts were already chosen, 'twould be quite funny if all three signs ended up going to people who don't really care. Or all to the same person. Or all three to the same person who doesn't care...
I know right?

Since this is a pretty active thread and yall are experienced hatchets can anyone tell me if I can set eggs that are cold when collected. It's like 20 here and when I collect eggs they're usually cold. Not frozen but cold. Would I be able to hatch them if they get cold?
yes you can just get the to room temps first

Ok I feel bad for Sally... Tomorrow she will be going through 50 pages of one word contest... Lol

I might have to start pulling out my dank memes... Maybe than they would win a sign...
Thank you Nathan, Sally is going to put an end to their fun and they will hate me soon

Now for something else, totally random, for grins and giggles.

How about a couple drawings I did on a 3-subject challenge?

This was a 5 drawing set - free choice of subject, but all 5 in the series were to have the same 3 objects in them (more or less) and each drawing was to stretch for a different feel from the others. Not sure what I did with the last two drawings, right now, but here are the first three of them.

(Moon, Apple/Tree, and Chicken were the 3 things I chose to include in the series. These are the first 3. The 4th one was a chicken jitterbugging with a tree with the moon as a disco ball overhead, blackout background. The last one was an older chicken, head shot from front, beak holding a sprouting apple seed, with the moon behind, surrounding the head. I wanted the chicken to grow up as I moved through the drawings, with the apple tree going backwards through its life - barren tree, fruit bearing, flowering, sapling, seed).
You are simply amazingly talented!!!!
