She is beautiful by the way! What breed/cross is she?
I have no idea, we got a carton of eggs for eating from a local farm and I stuck them in the bator

Told my parents of course... after a few days.

But I did see a pic recently of a buff and black orp cross that looked similar.

Very cute! I wonder what a stuffed moose would act like LOL.
I had a lone chick (named Chicky) that I let hang out with our dogs allot and she would eat with them so she partially imprinted on our older dog. She would actually almost "bark" like a dog, it was in-between a dog bark and a chicken squak. We trained our dogs to chase the chickens off the porch (without hurting them) and when Chicky started going outside she did whatever the dogs did. So sometimes she would be lying on the porch in the sun (she thought she got a free pass) and dad would yell "CHICKEN ON THE PORCH!!!" The dogs would run outside, past Chicky and she would jump up and follow them as they started chasing the chickens that were further away. The dogs considered her family so never learned to chase her off the porch, but she loved helping them chase the other chickens away.

She was terrified of the other chickens though unless she was chasing them.

Here's Chicky as an adult. She was my favorite chicken ever, if I walked by without noticing her she would sqwak and run after me, she also laid an egg on my lap once

OMG that is wonderful I have been trying to teach my dogs to chase the chickens off the porch, hurting them has never been an issue, my issue us that the chickens are not afraid of my little Dachshund, and my great dane is scared of the chickens LOL go figure

Good morning chicken holics, and other feather babies parents. I set 8 dz eggs last night and am going to go list some for sale on ebay and my chicken forum then off to work on building three more paddocks, Feed, water and play with the fluffy butts while they look for goodies in the rocks and yard. Then off to work. Hope your day is fun.

Yeah, the big dogs are always the most scared.

Take that from our 90 lbs mix-breed who will roll over to new dogs compared to our 15 lb maltese mix who will attack any strange dog she sees.

8 dozen! I so wish I could set that many. Maybe when I'm not using our reptile incubator any more. Lol.

I'm sorry to hear they are having trouble. A chick that is having trouble straightening is weak and needs some extra help. When I had chicks like that I would put them in a special little brooder when I was away and when I was around I would hold them in the proper position of standing, supporting their head and body, so that their muscles would get use to it. I also dipped their beaks in measuring spoons with some electrolyte water. After a couple days of being unable to walk, stand, or even straighten their heads they were completely better and now are very healthy young adults.

As they got better I introduced food, a real waterer (I started with a quail one as they stumbled a lot and I didn't wan them to drown), and eventually they were ready for a normal, large brooder. They loved the safety of a little cave to hide under when feeling nervous.

I hope this helps and they get better.

Thanks very much for the advice. I have given Mr. Spaddle leg some electrolyte water, but he's pretty frisky and wants to do anything but drink...

The other chicks may not like her but Mr. Moose seems to have taken quite a shine to that sweet little face. My one and only black baby and she is soo much smaller than the others, they beat her up good last night but she was too afraid to be left. Every time I would put her down and walk away she would cry and try to push through the bars in the cat carrier. I look on BYC to see what I could do and read a few threads about putting a stuffy in the cage with her. SURE enough it worked.... I was shocked, my 5 year old gave her his stuffed moose and she is just as happy as happy could be, NOW, she cries when I take her away from the moose. This should be good when she grows up she is gonna think she is a stuffed moose.

I had to do the same thing with a golden sexlink chick a week and a half ago-she was all alone. Loved the teddy bear but would still cry every time I walked past the brooder. Finally gave up and bought a silkie chick to keep it company.

Sounds like my favorite Hepsiba, only she doesn't think she's a dog-she just loves me. She follows me all over the yard and even looks for me when she hears my voice through a window. I swear one of these days that she'll figure out the dog door and follow me inside the house...
