The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Ameri-flower is a special mix that @MyPetChicken does.

Any more specifics? Do they lay special eggs? Are they pretty colors? Etc.

These are quickly becoming one of my favorite mixes that the breed experts at MPC have come up with. I have hatched about 90% crested and many of them have puffy cheeks. They are very hardy, lay blue/green eggs, and come with all the wild coloring of a SFH. I have some "sneak" pictures from a photo shoot done recently where some teenager Ameri-flowers were used. I'll see if I can get them for y'all.

Look at this face. No wonder my husband couldn't pass her up Saturday at the feed store.

if i only have one silver quail hatch I may have to get a bantam buddy for it to grow up with.

It is the only one that has hatched so far. I had a bulb burn out fro about 8 hours so it set the hatching back.

Lucky rooster. :) My grandmother had a big bad RIR. We always had to be careful when we went to collect eggs for her. Make sure that rooster is locked out of coop! Well, one day my sister comes in with her legs bleeding from top to bottom. I'll never get that image out of my head. Boy my grandpa went out, grabbed that ax, and while grandma was tending to my sister, he was tending to that rooster. I remember him on the kitchen table. My Aunt, that is just 9 months older than me, was crying. She had picked that rooster out from a window full of pretty colored chicks at Easter time..and now .. well...there he was. She wouldn't eat him. I did.

Way too many fantastic roosters out there to keep a bad one. What a horrible thing to happen to your sister.

I've been hit at hip level by a mixed breed cockerel, and I'm 5'8" tall. That is face level for a child. Just not worth it. The day this male went for my head when I was filling up a waterer was the day he was gone. For some reason, he just had an issue with me. He was fine with my husband, my kids and even strangers........but I went into the run and it was game on.

They sound very interesting. Looking forward to pictures.

What is the best way to get the humidity down.. Am holding at 70, I know that is too high. have set eggs one day ago

Remove the water.
Ok, I have suctioned out water, will watch humidity closer and add more in one well if needed... Thanks for your help. This is my first try and I did not know not to fill all wells. Hope I did not hurt all the eggs.
Styro bators can hold water in them for a day. Wait until the humidity goes below 30 and add water to the smallest tank. Wait a day and see what the humidity goes to.

Below 25% is the zone of embryo damage.

. Love watching little baby quail running madly around a brooder.

Here are some of the pictures I grabbed. Please know that these are the shots BEFORE they are website ready(poop removed, etc) so don't judge them too harshly please.

According to the photographer all of these chicks thought that the "stage" was a perfect place to poop before their big debut.

Ameri-Flower Teenagers:

P.S. I also have some pics of our Frizzled Seramas, Bantam Calico Cochins, and Fun and Funky if anyone is interested in seeing them. Just don't tell my boss.

Well, I bought 2 dz eggs at the farmers market today. I'm going to candle the eggs I set last week, pull any infertile eggs and fill in with a few of these BYM for fun. There are all different colors and sizes.. Some 70g+ eggs and some that are barely 20g. It should be a fun surprise...
