The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Fyi you can make your own probiotics cheap by feeding/making yogurt (SUPER EASY) for your chickens or kombucha (less easy). My chickens go insane when I chop up the scoby for them and they love it when I mix yogurt into their feed

Edit: fermented feed is also probiotic!

I may try all these

I wonder if Save a chick will work? I still have a few packs hanging around.

I dont know if the regular electrolyte one would work but they actually make a probiotic formula too

I'm gonna look that up

WE ONLY HAVE
TWO COOL ENTRIES!!!!!
Come on peoples!
This is my entry. I used it in the edible Easter contest already, so if I can't use it again let me know please.

It is a nest with three chicks already hatched.

Geeze that's expensive. :/  Too bad TSC doesn't carry it. I'm gonna have to find out if my feed store has it tomorrow. If not I may have to find another way.

  I probably should have said that's what I have. I have both of them, actually.

I know the first one wasnt to me but i noticed the expense too. The smallest size is not too bad compared to the dog supplements I bought yesterday but because i bought those i cant really buy more stuff ya know? Lol but i may add ACV to the water

And ahhhh okay. Yeah, i wasnt sure lol. I have some of the regular ones but i wanna get some probiotics ones. Theyre not too expensive. But my issue with every supplement is its per gallon of water and i have a 5 gallon bucket waterer with horizontal nipples so i dont wanna over dose or have to use like 5 sav a chick packs lol

Big ole bird lasts forever though!

I give it to my flock every two weeks.

Well I got my special battery for my flashlight today (Ultrafire). As soon as I finish fixing dinner (late I know) I am going to tackle candling the 109 quail eggs. Crystal my OE F2 girl finally started laying again after a vicious hard moult.. So now if Onyx will just begin to lay again I will have 3 eggs most days. I lost all of my pre-Hal hatch. I will perfect my technique. For the April HAL I will be getting some local Silkie eggs I think. I am going to get this down before I pour some money on rare expensive shipped eggs.

Quote: I'll admit it, I'm cheap.

I've got 2 packs of both hanging around from last spring. I ran out of ACV a month ago, but I keep forgetting to get more. In fact, I keep forgetting to tell anyone that's heading to the store to get some for me.

Quote: I'm going to try to talk Blu into it, but I may have to go a cheaper route. Which sucks, but that's how it is sometimes. I'm already pushing it by asking him to go to the swap tomorrow and TSC when I'm done. He HATES going into farm stores with me!

I already had plans to get Nutri-Drench while we were out there. I didn't want to be without it this hatch.
