The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

Okay, I'm finally done stuffing the last of the quail eggs in the bators. I've got 3 incubators going plus a couple broodies. Here are my egg totals:
75 barnyard mix
20 Silkies
4 Black Tailed Buff Japanese
26 Serama
8 Sebrights
16 Modern Game Bantams
16 Welsh Harlequin
7 Mandarin
39 Japanese quail
That is a total of 211

Hah!! Better you than me! Can't wait to see what you hatch!

Hi,
The incubator is maintaining 99.5 but the humidity has gone down about 5% or more overnight to about 35%. I put a small amount of water on a sponge and let it sit in the incubator for a bit and the humidity goes back up to a little over 40%. It stays nice till about 3 or 4pm then I put a little more water on the sponge so it stays around 40%. any suggestions. I didn't like putting water in the wells it was too much humidity I thought.

You're getting the hang of it! With that type of incubator, the less you onpen it the better since it looses humidity fast and takes awhile to stabilize the temp, so using the sponges is great, and easier to control. If you can use tubing to add water through the air holes that helps.

I will try the tubing tomorrow. Thank you.

Yep, quitter. Sorry

@honeybeeschicks
Wanted you to see this picture of an early quitter. You will often see this tell tale blood ring when you candle and the embryo has died. Pretty soon you'll see more pictures posted as everybody starts candling their eggs at 7 days.

ok, thank you.
