I missed the contest, but just wanted to share that this was our first ever attempt at our own hatching. We placed 8 eggs in the incubator, 5 hatched, 1 did not survive the night :(
4 are under the heat lamp enjoying life. 3 hated Easter Sunday and 2 hatched the day after Easter.

Okay guys I'm going to have to catch up on the last two pages later. I have now tried to post three times on here and my phone keeps losing it. Sorry I haven't gotten my final numbers posted before now.
So for right now I'm just going to post my final numbers and reply to other things later.

36 eggs were set to hatch the Monday after Easter.

On day 7, 11 eggs were pulled(10 infertile and an early quitter)
Leaving 25 eggs.

On day 14 I pulled two more quitters
Leaving 23 eggs headed into lockdown.

We locked down twelve hours late and already had 7 pips! I was even moving eggs around every two or three days in case there were any hot spots which I couldn't find. Lol I was completely shocked.

Chick number 1 hatched in the wee hours of Easter morning(like 2 am)
On Easter we had about 4 more hatch. On Monday they were popping like popcorn.
Tuesday we had another one hatch and finally on Wednesday we had a little late come hatch. There again making me wonder about the temps.

We lost one chick each on Monday and Wednesday each having lived 24-48 hours. Neither were assists. I know at least one of them pipped into a vein and I'm wondering if it had fluid in the lungs.

We had two DIS but otherwise all hatched of the 23 eggs that went to lockdown. We did lose two chicks, but I feel like the hatch went off perfectly.

The last chick did also pip a vein and need to be unstuck so it was an assist but just barely as all I did was soften the membrane where it was stuck.

Below are the numbers of chicks that hatched and made it.
9 barnyard mixes(some of these will be more identifiable as they age) (10 hatched one didn't make it)
3 chocolate cuckoo english orps
2 silkies/silkie mixes
5 of our project breed(a 6th hatched but was one of the two chicks that died)

Idk if the two chicks that died count or not. All I know is I was very pleased with the hatch. :)

I was given 8 turkey eggs and I have never hatched turkey's before, so my temp is set right at 99 but what about humidity? and how many day till hatch and at what day do you stop turning?
