The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

I want to join in, I am new but sounds like fun what date do you need a egg count? Do you want candle updates on live or not? Can't wait to participate. Thanks

Can't wait for the contest! I love contest and love great pictures and taking pictures! :pop as long as they don't have to be in the snow lol! That's not happening here in the south :p

Hmm... The water pan for humidity is right below the wire floor, so I don't think I could put a magazine under it because it would stop humidity. Guess I'll put the duck eggs in a carton when it's time for lockdown?

I'm sorry don't explain well. I meant to put the magazine or book on the outside under the incubator.

@RavynFallen Says duck eggs don't do well upright and that they should lay down.

Call duck eggs don't do well upright, Dan... other duck eggs are fine, but if you can hand turn several times a day I've seen slightly better hatches with them laying on their sides... :)

I have hatched duck eggs several times and they did fine upright.

It is really a personal preference thing--differences between methods will be very small.

One thing to stress is that incubation temperature is the most important factor in incubation. If you get that right, you will have good hatch rates.

X2

Calls in upright turners are what I don't recommend... :)

@RavynFallen
