The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

Ok, I'm sure that this may not be the right place to post this, but there are too many forums regarding lockdown. This is my first batch of eggs. I have them in a hovabator without a hygrometer to measure humidity levels. I've been keeping one channel filled with water in the bottom as the directions said that came with the bator. I am scheduled to go into lockdown tomorrow with 20 chicken eggs. I've been candling and things look like they are progressing well. My concern is that I have 5 duck eggs in with them and I'm worried about when I should stop turning the duck eggs. I have been hand turning them all twice a day since the start. Will the duck eggs be ok during the chicken lockdown or can I open the bator and turn them quickly. I'm really nervous that I am going to do something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Just in case, ducks are scheduled to hatch on March 18th. Chickens are scheduled to hatch on March 11th and 12th. Thank you.

I'd continue turning until you have pips. I had a similar situation, and the eggs that didn't get turned for a bit were fine.

Hey guys, I was turning my duck eggs today and noticed a blue/purple bruise on one of the eggs? There was movement in the egg. I'm three days away from hatch. Any idea what it might be?

@casportpony didn't you have malpo attempted pips that looked like that?

I still plan on setting and being part of the Easter Hatchalong. I am hoping to find some Turkey and Duck eggs to hatch. Does anyone on here have a place they would recommend for me to get them from ??? Thanks in advance. If no luck with Turkey/Duck eggs I will set some more of my barnyard mutt chicken eggs. :)
do you have specific breeds of ducks or turkeys you want? There's many of us on here who raise different ducks/turkeys/chickens/etc.

I really want to hatch this year - hopefully I can!!

I'm trying to decide between whether I want an incubator or a trail/game camera for my birthday though....

I don't need more chickens and don't want to be overcrowded BUT BABY CHICKS. But I also want to observe the local wildlife and get cool pictures of them.... GAHHHH.

Maybe I will compromise and MAKE an incubator lol

That one sounds like a keeper.....

Now I can see how this would be a very difficult decision.

I know! Why not both?

Someone can buy you the incubator, and you buy the cam.
