For me for collecting eggs for this do you all think it would be ok if I were to collect eggs on the 23, and 24 and anything they lay on the 25 before noon? With only 3 cochins laying i want to get the most out of every hatch

That will be fine. Collecting up to a week will work fine. Store them on the counter in an egg carton, wide end up. Prop one corner and then change to the other corner a few times a day.

If they would go in at night on their own like chickens, I totally would.

Mine do, just about 15 min later.

LOL What Chickens?!

I keep Saxony ducks, that's all. No chickens, though I'm considering adding some turkeys or geese to my yard.

You can keep drakes with chickens, just make sure they also have duck hens to provide their attentions to.

What'll help is raising them with the chickens. The hens will teach the young drake a lesson in respect if he tries anything funky, and IME, he'll leave them alone after that!

Maybe my drakes need to spend some time with chickens then.. they don't give me no respect!
