The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

has anyone candle an egg at the 10th day of incubation that its real dark when candled and looks globby? there is no blood ring, and air sac is good, it kind of looks like day 16, except its globby looking. some darkness is lighter in some spots then others.... does anyone have any idea what might be the issue?

Make sure you use the smell test with it. If it does not smell off, then keep it in the incubator.

@ronott1 it looks like your profile photo except globby an some dark places go down more then others, the Bator did smell funky today too.

If the bator smells, then sniff test them all and ditch the ones that have an odor. Even my quitter didn't have a smell after being incubated for 10 days post demise and it was gnarly looking on the inside. If it smells then it's a threat to all of the other eggs in the incubator.

These are the eggs I've collected so far.

Question: the egg at the top right? Would that be considered an olive egg?

@ronott1 it looks like your profile photo except globby an some dark places go down more then others, the Bator did smell funky today too. and theres no veins

The egg in the photo is a good egg and it hatched. That is the way the look when they are upright in the cartons. Of the egg is dark or has a lot of bloom, it can be hard to see into it. The further you get in incubation, the less you will see inside an egg.
@ronott1 im doing the dry hatch method idk if that would cause a bad one to stink
Don't let the humidity go below 25% for a hatch. Dry hatch does not mean no humidity and how low humidity will go inside an incubator is different for different times of the year and where you live.

A smelly egg is a dead egg. When you smell a rotten egg, pick up each egg and smell it until you find the one or more eggs that are rotten. Those you need to get out of the incubaor before they seep goo into it.
