The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

My son has asked for ducks for years. Of course, I'm the one that takes care of all the critters!

Stupid question of the year: do ducks molt in winter too?

I know nothing about ducks, except they quack. Now if you want to talk bees, I can do that!

Yes, mine molt, but not suddenly. Bit by bit. Any other questions?

Mmmm... that's how I started with chickens. Our first two birds were not my project but my sons' and his dad's. As they lost interest I took over and that's how my chicken adventures began. They are getting ferrets next but I'm NOT looking after those!

They don't have a bald molt then like chickens can? Or is it an individual bird thing?

Just one thing you should know: Ducks are very messy, and they poop A LOT nore then chickens, and when they do, it's very watery. But they're awesome animals

Slowly and it makes your yard look worse then when chickens molt.
May I ask why you are hatching ducks for your son if he doesn't help. Just seems wrong IMHO
