Campfire time.. OMG.
Inspiration and impatiences started a chain of unprecedented events.. One in particular is about to be noted.View attachment 1291414
As I previously noted, I am (we) are on the butt end of day 22 of a pre planned hatch from a scheduled rotation of sorts. A some what successful batch with a moderate yield.
Here is the kicker. Emptied the oven. Placed the quitters in the cylindrical waste can and proceeded to clean/sterilize/and acclimate the oven for said..EHAL.
READY FOR THIS?
View attachment 1291412 THE TRASH CAN IS CHIRPING! Shocked and amazed.. scrambling to find the source of the chirp. Candled the balance of the failures and one is raising cane!View attachment 1291415 We busted open the top of the shell & the inner & outer membranes are bone dry. Fluid is still present so we only assisted enough for it to receive oxygen, but not to cause any of the vital nutritional fluid to leak out & deprive the late hatcher from being robbed from the vital last stage of development.
View attachment 1291433 So without being to "long winded", I set 40 eggs on March 10th @ just around 10:36 P.m. E.S.T.
+ one egg/wanna-be chick that has refused to quit, even though it was in a waste receptacle and being transported to the trash cans an acre away.
View attachment 1291436 View attachment 1291437 View attachment 1291438 So count me in @ 40 plus one straggler egg. Lets rock this thread! But I apologize in advance for my photo happy habits..View attachment 1291444

HAPPY EASTER! In advance! View attachment 1291446
"Bummer Town Daddio".. little Underdog didn't make it:(. Although it was a weird & wild experience. Most of the pods of that hatch unzipped and were out on day 20. So when I made the decision to end it on late day 22, I was 99.5% confident that the balance of the eggs were just plain unsuccessful. That 5% chance had my garbage can chirping. wowzers.

It was the Maiden Voyage on a newly purchased incubator. Manufactured by Farm Innovators.
An analog controlled oven. My Little Giants are all digital and LIE to me, as far as accurate temp/air moisture readings are concerned. So we went back to old school analog. Somewhat successful but not spectacular. I have 2 more hatches this week with my LG's, so I have my fingers crossed still.
No matter what kind of oven you have, do yourself a favor, buy an aux temp/air moisture meter. They maybe inexpensive in some cases, but worth their weight in gold when used for incubation purposes.

You need a cabinet incubator!
