Out of the hatcher and into the first brooder box in the back room (Brinsea EcoPlate).
When they out grow this, they'll move to the big brooder pen in the greenhouse with the Premier plate
They're eating and drinking just fine and have figured out the warmth source. Yay!

So far 28 has hatched, 2 zipping and several piping. out of 58 eggs. 1 died after it was piping good with nice hole, 5 not fertile. My luck most are roosters. Barred Rock in background and many with the white on head or light spot.

If their dad was a barred rock they should all have white spots on their heads, boy or girl. If the mother was barred and the father was a solid color, only the males will have spots on their heads. Worked for me last spring.

Then there is HOPE! this time there dad is the barred rock, my other roo I guess was shooting blanks since he froze his comb. He was breeding, but looks like these belong to the Barred rock and his Blue EE son from last year, My avatar. which may have that effect on the girls and boys looks.

None of the duck eggs have pipped, yet. Three EE babies out and peeping. When I candled all of the eggs at lockdown the ducks looked good.

Ducks can be off on incubation time. The longer number of days can make them have more of a variation in hatching. someting like 26 to 28 days. There is hope!

OK, here are a couple of Lily, the silkied serama. I think she is really a she (very petite and girlie looking, small comb).

She's a little peanut. I was calling her "Grumpy" for the longest time, because she had the grumpiest little pissed-off expression! (she still does, but not as much).

I like your system and I love the black and white chicks!

Thanks for the clarification! Also, all of this does not work as well for hatchery B rocks

I got a little desperate....
I was making peeping noises through the ventilation holes

I played a you tube video of chicks... The one egg started wobbling around a lot more. That was hours ago. Still no pip

So far our hatch consists of all 9 of the SFH’s, 8 out of 11 of the Serema’s, 3 out 6 of the BCM’s, and our lone NN. Which leaves 3 OE’s, 3 BCM’s, 2 Serama’s, and 2 EE’s, that may still do something.
So we have added color and some more variety to our flock, but not so much to our egg basket which means I need to hatch more eggs!
