Update,sorry.The he has started telking normal again and squatting.But an very nervous she will be abandon the chicks without them knowing the dangers,and on top of that their still very small,partly because their bantams.Maybe was the other mom with the new chciks will adopt them?

The Mom usually takes care of them for 5 to 6 weeks. Set up a broader as a backup

I have a brooder as a backup.She still walks with them and finds feed but I do think she is going to quit them soon.

If she quits raising the chicks, do not let her hatch chicks again. Some do not make good mothers

I won’t,other hen who seems to be adopting just about everything seems to be a really good mother.I was surprised.Im sure she will adopt anything that chirps.

Got three more chicks,hoping mom Will adopt lol.

Couldn’t help but feel bad,Everone felt bad for them,got th healthiest ones,one was missing an eye and majority had pasty butt,I wanted to save them so got three of the best looking.

Can mother hens have medicated chick feed?

Yes they can. It is a thiamine disrupter and not a poison. Long term it will cause a niacin deficiency sometimes but is not bad generally
