The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Tyson is gorgeous!!! What a studly guy! Hannah is lovely, however she looks like a girl who isn't going to take anything off of anybody....Kind of a "bring it on" woman.

If there were a hose sitting competition in Chicken Olympics, your girls would get the golden corn kernal medal, Artsyrobin!! Do you use the hose as a perch, or are your girls just creative?

I can just see them, looking through the window at the screen while you read!

Hi,
I am a newbie to BYC, but I have had chickens for 10 years. I just found this "Chicken Soap Opera"
and I love the work you do! It is so interesting and hilarious to see things from the chickens point of view.
You are a BYC treasure Mrs. Chickendad!
Thanks! Bunny

LOL....Hannha is definitely a "bring it on" woman...probably because she has 11 BR ladies to compete for goodies with...but she takes no guff of them. They were hatched by Mrs.Chickendad. Tyson and Hannah came from her. It took 2 stressful days to get here and then I had to drive 2 hrs, 1-way, to go and get them. Poor babies. Tyson had evolved into quite the gentleman, watching all his ladies. He does have one BR girl who really has "put him on a pedestal"...she follows him everywhere.

Love the hose sitting competition...what a hoot....

they came up with it on their own- barbara being the instigator as usual- it is a home made mister that hangs along the fence and she got to looking at it and .... the rest is history!LOL!

BRs are so much instigators.....they make me laugh every day.

The hose sitting is actually tightrope walking. All BR's have to pass that test, I think. At least the hose would keep their feet cool! Let's see: there is Tightrope Walking, Nest Hogging, Laying in Crazy Places, Landscaping and the Treat Race, not to mention Bossiness and Queenliness.

Computer update: What appeared to be logic board problems were actually hard drive problems. Good News: Hard drives are MUCH cheaper to replace. Bad News: All the info on the drive is gone. I should be able to reconstruct Barbara's Adventures from this thread, but photos, emails, addresses, income tax info, etc. is gone. Data recovery is $1000 plus, so that ain't gonna happen. As Barbara would say, "Buk-Buk-Buk-Buk-Buk-GAWK"! I am still trying to get the original Mac back in order, but had to take both of them apart. And I have screws left over. Not a good sign . . .

Thank you everyone for the kind responses. It keeps me going! So here is what happened earlier this week (sorry, no photos yet):

Moving Day

It was a lovely day Tuesday, warm and sunny. Barbara and the Big Girls stretched out in the warm dirt under the tree and sunbathed. Every time the Chickendads walked past with a bag in their hands, the Girls leapt up and begged for treats from the Magic Bag. Sorry Girls, it isn’t THE Magic Bag today.

The Chickendads were busy cleaning out pens and moving some of their Chicken Children to more grown up accommodations. The Ameraucana Girls, except for Silverette (who is an honorary Wyandotte), went into the kennel pen with the three very young Americana Boys and explored the new coop with a Real Grass Pen! The Little Ameraucana Boys stuck together because there were way many more girls than them, some of them old enough to be their mothers . . and they were BIG. . .with beards . . .

Baby (she of the Orange Feather Duster) is a member of this group. She still runs around peeping madly at anything different, but that is pretty much the way of Ameraucanas. Mrs. Chickendad put the OFD in with Baby so she would have extra friends.

The older group of Mille Fleur Cochins were moved to the Breezeway Pen, where they could go outside for the first time. They eyed the cat door suspiciously for quite a while until one Little Rooster got brave and popped thru the hole. Excitement! He found the scratch that had been put there for them and made his Little Rooster Call. The Little Kids popped thru the cat door like popcorn and ran about the new (to them) pen looking for food and adventure. When it got dark, they all crowded up around the hole until Mrs. Chickendad turned on the light inside and they could see where to go to sleep. She shut the cat door tight and the Little Kids settled down inside after their big day. What a Big World it is!
