The hint of spring in the air made everyone antsy, including the Food Lady. She took the leftover spaghetti and bread out to the chickens for a snack and was greeted with much excitement. She let Walter and his Wyandotte ladies out to free rangethey had done such a good job making little chickies that they deserved a reward. The Chickie Girls were let out into the outside pens, but they didnt go out until all the snacks were gone. Priorities, you know.
Barbara grabbed a couple pieces of spaghetti until the egg urge overtook her and she hopped into the nest box to perform her duty. Leroy helped the other girls find treats while he waited for Barbara to produce their Love Child. Barbara couldnt seem to get comfortable, and turned around and around, with her Big Butt catching on the side of the box with each turn. Pretty soon, there was a shiny new egg, laid while she stood up. Barbara rolled it around until it was dry and she was satisfied. Leroy waited patiently to take her outside. The sun was warm and spring was coming. His woman chicken was beautiful again and they had an egg. His little chicken heart was happy.
Oh my gosh! How did i ever miss the stories of Barbra! She is quite the gal isen't she. i just spent probablly the last 5 and 1/2 hours reading all 67 pages and all the stories of Barbra. I loved every one of them. Barbra, Leroy and all your other chickens are goregous!
I will definately be checking this often for new stories of Barbra Leroy and the gang.
Just wanted to let you know that I ordered my very first chicks this week (hatch date April 5!!!!!!!!!) and added 2 barred rocks. I would have never even considered them but for Barbara! Her (your) stories are so wonderful and entertaining. I really do think you should write a children's book. Actually, you have the book written already, The Adventures of Barbara volumes 1-3!! Now you just need to publish. I think Barbara and Leroy would be in grape heaven on royalties just from BYC people alone. We would owe a fortune in overdue fines if my 4 year old ever got ahold of it! Hope your knee is feeling better Mrs. Chickendad! Keep up the good work!

Congrats on your new babies! You will have more fun than you will ever know!
Mothermal: Welcome and thank you for your compliments! I never dreamed that this whole story would start with Barbara climbing in with Wendy in the nest. I guess she had to do something to get my attention to see that she is unique. I never quite know what Barbara and Leroy will do next. I can always distinguish Barbara from Monica because Leroy hangs around her like a smitten schoolboy. They are the cutest little chicken couple, sort of like in the sixth grade when the girls are really tall and the boys are still short.
Fuffy, get ready! We are sending some nice WARM sunshine your way to melt all the snow we sent last month! Is spring in Jersey beautiful or just another variation of mud season? I have daffodils poking thru the ground, hope the chickens don't find them!
Spring in Jersey? First it's winter forever. Then there are about 5 days of hot summer. Then it's winter again and finally summer comes.
It has got cold again now, but sunny. Cows, horses and chickens are all holding thier breath waiting for the grass to start growing
