The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Found this thread this evening, and have spent the last 2 + hours reading all the posts. I LOVE the Barbara stories. She is a beautiful hen! I'm glad your surgery went well and you have some cute little chickies to keep you company. Read most of the Barbara stories to my 6 year old daughter before she had to go to bed and she was laughing almost as much as I was. We don't have any chickens yet, but I hope to have some come spring time. I have to get the coop and run built first. We (my daughter and I) are really looking forward to getting our own little feathered friends. She wants baby chicks so they will grow to know her and follow her. She's like a little mommy.

Anyway, sorry to hijack your post....Keep the laughs coming! I am now a devoted fan!

Are you sure Little Girl didn't manage to sneak a small rock in there somehow? Does she slink around and avoid making eye contact with you? Or look guilty when you praise her for the "egg"? Maybe the peer pressure just got to her and she thought she better get something in that box!

My little girls lay nice little eggs, but not that little

More Eggs!

The Food Man came home today with a box from the post office. It was eggs! Barbara could not see why the Food People needed any more eggs, the girls were all doing their jobs. Frankly, they didn’t have much else to do. The Little Girls were all laying their little eggs, too, and the Food People said they were going to put some of those Little Girl eggs in the "incoopbator" . Barbara did not know what an "incoopbator" was, but it sounded important.

The eggs had come all the way from someplace called "Callyfornya". They are eggs from some other Little Girls called "Mille Fleur" Cochins. Barbara did not know what that was, maybe it was just another name for Little Girls with round butts, like Leroy’s. They also put some eggs in to see if Walter was doing his job with the Wyandotte Girls, as well as to see if Silver and the Silly Ameraucana Sisters were getting along. There were going to be a lot of new chickies, hopefully. Barbara thought they better not count their chickies before they hatched. . .
