The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Well, I did point out to Leroy that a Big Butt is easier to balance on—besides, those Sussex girls are so enamored of Bob that Leroy doesn't stand a chance with them. He will just have to love on Barbara.

This is soooo true...That is a good point for Leroy to remember.

I think my BR girls are getting ready to start laying eggs. It is so funny, if we go in the backyard we are run over by 13 hens all wanting treats. I went to move sprinklers when I got home and they were following me around telling me what for. I went in and told the DH that his "girls" are wanting attention. He takes bread, etc, out and sits in the grass and feeds everyone. Tyson kinda sits on the out skirts waiting for his girl attention. As soon as DH is done feeding, everyone is back to Tyson and he crows. It is so funny. My 13 girls are soooo spoiled.

OMG! I just spent the last few hours reading this whole thread. SO entertaining!

We have 4 Barred Rocks. They are so chatty and friendly, and love to peck me. The kids tried to name them, but now we can't tell them apart, except for one who has a comb that is lopsided.

Looking forward to reading more!

I have two BR's. They have not been tame....would not let me pick them up, but are used to me walking around where they are. The other evening, we were on the front porch...had some friends here, including a 10 year old girl. One of the BR's suddenly came over to us and hopped up on the porch, right in the middle of us, and just stood there. Allowed the 10 year old to pick her up. I was thrilled to death, but also very, very surprised that she would do that. She now has a name......Barbara.
