Our Barred Rock chick, Lucy, is growing up to be a Lou, I think. However, (s)he's still true to tradition, winning gold medals both the "perching/pooping on top of the waterer" and "standing in the food trough while eating" competitions each day! See, it's not just girl Barred Rocks that wanna have fun!

I have my mother's optimistic nature. Once her mother told her that she didn't have the good sense to know when to be worried. Me, too. And since I have no "good sense", I want to wish all of you chicken lovin' people a most happy Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous (not just money) New Year. We live in the best country in the world, at the best time in our lives and have the dearest friends anyone could desire. I am thankful for darling MrsChickendad and her family; I am thankful for this escape from reality (BYC) and I am thankful for all of you.

I used to teach special ed kids (we rode the conestoga wagons to school, uphill both ways. . . ) and after seeing what is reality for some people, I am thankful for all I CAN do!

Chickenboy and his Chickenparents are coming for dinner today, as well as the Chickendogs. The Chickie Girls are all locked up in the pens so they do not become menu items for the Chickendogs. It's much too cold and rainy to go out anyway. I expect a meeting of the Chicken Taming Association will be held also.
