The ducks have been mating for months now. She tried to mount one of the ducks this afternoon (because they have access to swimming water after the winter they were really really excited), and then he mounted a duck! I just wonder why he doesn't mount her, they are obviously attached to each other, they graze together, when one takes off the other flies with them, and they sleep next to each other at night.Have the ducks begun mating, that may help spur him into it. When do you'll start misting you'lls goose eggs.
this is my first egg its not under a broody.it's in my little incubator.I would not do it. If they have access to puddles or water thats all the moisture the eggs need. If you add too much moisture they wont have enough room in the air sac, and will suffocate at hatch. Any incubated egg needs to be monitored for air sacs decreasing to make room for the gosling. I have kept geese all my life, and I can't bear thinking of a gosling suffocating.

I know I have followed your posts. you need to candle your egg to see whats happening at 7 days.
If you see red "cobwebs" the egg is growing. We can go from there. With the humidity you posted I would NOT mist. Too much the gosling will not have enough air sac to hatch.
Quote: I bet it won't be much longer. Geese really bond. My ganders all have their favorite hens, and they are the dominant ones of course. With just the pair your fella just isn't feeling pushed as mine are with a larger flock. We have 15 geese, there are 3 ganders for the 3 breeds. My Embden and American Buffs have really comingled, The Chinese also have seemed to stay with the breed. Theres a different language, Buffs and Embden are more similar than Chinese.
My only thought, can you separate them a week? That will really encourage your gander. Geese need companionship.
ok,humidity is 46%.tomorrow will be day four.I know I have followed your posts. you need to candle your egg to see whats happening at 7 days.
