I spoke to mike (wolfewyte) on the phone.

He got robbed. :barnie
someone stole my birds from him too.

Soooooo... instead of getting them now...
I have to wait til mid May...

Im really angry... but not at mike....
All of his customers are angry with him too.
but what could he have done?
after all, he has no real defense living in the soviet state of NY...

Serious Flamming Bummer.

Yeah he told me when I picked mine up. That's the troubles he was having that I was talking about. He told me he thinks he knows who did it.

Mike owns a water fowl educational preserve
His BIG mistake was giving farm tours which included the cemani...

Several tourist offered (one demanded) to buy some on the spot and he had told them they were already sold.
2 weeks later...poof!

His farm is now closed to everyone until he fills all his orders.
I seriously doubt hes ever going to sale cemanis again...

This sooo sucks...

People need to be careful who they show their birds to and also about giving their address out. When I get ready to sell, most likely if they aren't being shipped, I will meet the person somewhere. But I do have a fence in back yard with an electric fence running along the top of it, plus I have a great watch dog that I don't have to worry about her letting anyone out back with my birds. Planning on adding another one to help her out soon. Also helps that I have a neighbor on each side of me and across the road from me that are home most of the time, they are either retired or work from home.
But I have been warning people to be careful right now that do have these birds or any other expensive birds and so on.
I plan to get a PO Box and an alternet cell phone before I start selling.
I will need a fence and I might need a german sheppard type dog too...
I have a home builder friend who is looking into a possible alarm security system we can home brew and hook up to the coop itself.

What kind of fence do you have and how do you have the electric accross the top rigged up?

I have a chain-link fence, and I used extender insulators from Tractor supply and just wired them to the top of each post and ran the wire threw it. I put it up mainly to keep other wild life and cats from crossing the fence before I got the dog. She keeps everything out of the yard now.

I can verify that Randy actually does this. I got some roosters from him and met him at a shopping center. At first I thought he was just busy, but now I know why. Very smart of Randy. I wish I had done this in the past. So many people have my address from past Craigslist ads. Now people are just randomly showing up uninvited. I had someone show up just today. How is this ok?

I have decided to move the Cemani and another breed I imported (but have not yet publicly announced) to a friend's place. He is former Intelligence Officer and just about crazy. I don't think anyone will be stealing from his place.

I called my vet and I am heading down there now to have GPS tracking chips installed in my birds 100 dollars per chip. Best idea I ever had.....

After that I am going to adopt two big german sherperds dogs from the spca.

I have to pay a monthly fee now 9.95 a month and 4.95 for each extra tracking chip.
