Thank you! I am curious because I just received 12 eggs from Toni. I am keeping my fingers crossed. :D I hope your other little one hatches.

Good luck with your hatch. I don't have a fancy incubator and don't really go all out with the temp and humidity stuff and I usually mess the humidity up during lockdown. I was lucky to get the TM eggs as I did so since it looks like two is what I think I'll end up with I am happy with that. The super glue egg piped so it turns out super-gluing does work but it is taking a long time to zip and I do not help chicks hatch as it usually never works out in the long term for me. Now to source GFF somehow....

This is going to be a long haul. I do wonder if a small chicken with black skin and meat and small eggs will really be a popular demand in the long run but I love the look of the bird and the challenge of getting them right.

Thank you. I have a Brinsea auto, I don't have the humidity pump for it so I have to keep an eye on that. I normally have good luck with eggs, even shipped ones. I will be happy if only a few hatch.
I would love to have some GFF ones. :)
I too think the same, my husband thinks I am crazy! I think it's a cool bird, so why not?

It's going to be a very long 21 days...

My new guy! So handsome :)

Is there a formal cemani breeders club?

It is going to be important for people who care about perfecting these amazing birds to have formal group of known people who are working to an SOP, a bit like what is happening with the cream legbars club. People need to know who can be trusted to buy the real deal from in each breed.

I fear that for every one here that will be breeding and culling to improve their stock there will be 10 others who will buy a pair of birds and sell every egg and chick and even mixed breed they have to make a fast buck while the prices are high, and discard them when profits are low, moving onto the latest craze. I am not blaming people for wanting to make a living, and I guess it is not hard to spot who they are (they have multiple currently desirable breeds) but if you want to protect the good that you are doing (and what it will cost you) with the cemani breed I think it requires a formal club/group.
