I'm expecting 24 white bresse hatching eggs on Monday to add to the oe eggs I have in there from my own flock. I'm trying so hard not to cave and buy sh hatching eggs, b/c each incubator fits 48 eggs, my new brinsea brooder heater plate fits 50 chicks/ducklings.

I'm going to sell my egg laying flock and the oe hatchlings in the spring, I have a waiting list for the white bresse chicks as well as egg layers. I think after I move everyone into their own pens and cull my roos things will get better. Atm 7 juvenile roos in 1 big area is starting to cause my slw to hide from their amorous advances. They just find her so irresistible. My friend says the gff roo isn't mating yet, but our roos are the same age and mine are very much mating the pullets that are big/old enough.

hmong chickens you can afford...my girl is hmong so I can find you some of them for a very great price....there is a farm in Minnesota that sells them for under 100 bucks for I believe 5 or 8 but it is a first come first serve type a deal...pm me if you would like the information...

I have to say though, that seller, did use some kind of fibro to cross with what ever the crosses was. I had 5 of 6 eggs developed. 1 quit early, 4 were fully formed. Of the 4 that had fully develop, only one hatched successfully and was a dead give away(pink skin and black and white legs). The other 3 died in the shell, so I checked them later and 2 were fibro and the other one was the same as the alive chick. I'm guessing the dead fibro ones were females from a fibro male x regular skin hen.

So, just do as much research as you can before buying anything online

Hey everyone!

I am so grateful for this ongoing discussion and wisdom! I have been carefully researching true and pure sources of the AC and they are really hard to find! I have a small farm in Northern California and live 3 hours from that ebay scammer, such a bummer he is taking advantage of folks because people out here would love to cultivate the breed.

If anyone's ACs lay some extra hatching eggs they are willing to send to California I would be grateful! :)

Hello all! Just a question...what is your average cull rate when hatching? I'm just wondering if anyone has reached that desirable level of 100% of chicks being all black (no white toenails, wing tips, etc) consistently. My latest hatch of 7 chicks was not perfect but I'm happy with the results. Only a couple culls. The 'culls' will just go into my layer flock. Thanks. :)

Ayam Cemani and fibro-melanstic birds are a hot topic atm(mostly AC). So people are trying to cash in on the craze and make a quick buck out of any single comb and black feather fibro bird, while they can. Until there has been a set standard for this breed(most likely be several years from now), all and any black feather bird with some fibro-melanistic traits, will be called Ayam Cemani and most people will fall for it.

It depends on which line or lines you have, some lines will have more culls than others. One of my lines I culled around 90 to 95% last year, but I probably culled heavier than most people probably would have. But so far this year, I'm not having to cull as hard at hatch as I was this time last year.
