I have produced birds that are dominant white (like your bird) that leak the red color (see my avatar). Birds that carry silver will not produce a bird like yours. Birds have to be hybrid to produce the color you see. You can produce more but it will be difficult to control the amount of red that will show. You want to use the male that produced this bird for breeding others. He carries the gold gene that is making the bird red. I would back cross the female ( i am assuming the bird in the picture is a female) to the male and you should produce some more birds. If too much red is showing in the offspring- you can cross to another paint to help reduce the amount of red color. It all depends on if your parent birds carry the gold gene.

OK guys, need a little help here. I've been hatching some paints. Out of one of the first batches I hatched, I have this one chick that was born white, but started developing spots after about 3 weeks. Then "she" started developing more spots, but they are red! So now I have a Tri-colored paint. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Is this something I should cull, or should I keep it and see if I can reproduce it? I think it's cool looking... here are some pics....

What do you think? Anyone have anything like this?? When the first red spot showed up, I thought somebody pooped on her, but then there were more and more until I finally picked her up to see what was going on. The red seems to be just on the tips of the feathers right now, not all the way down the shaft like the black spots. Is it just really dark leakage??![]()
