The American Paint Silkie

Pics
I have cockerels and pullets and may consider eggs in the fall.

Just in case someone is interested, Sigrid VonDort has offered her observation on the many pics posted above and gives mating techniques on perpertuating the color sports that appear. These may be found on the "Paint" Thread at the World Serama Federation Message Board. PM for link. To view will require registration and my approval.

ok, i was given this chick, as i was looking at her, noticed a few stray black feathers, on the shoulder and one on the back- so is she/he considered a paint?

no, the center pad is a bit lighter, but wouldn't say pink. My friend ordered some RIR eggs online and the breeder tossed this one in cause she didn't want it to go bad- so i have no idea on breeder

Ok thanks robin im going to send you a email in a little while to see what you got!!!

If i did breed blue to paint would it dilute the paint gene? Should i just breed paint to paint?

Believe it or not I bred recessive white to a paint male. I got more paints than using a black. Also a lack of pigment loss as seen using the paint to black breedings.

Paints are still at the point for correcting what they lack in type. So breeding to a very good black is recommended. I'm not sure if any one has done the blue breeding.

Well i can try and if it doesnt go well ill just buy me a black white or paint rooster lol, id love to see some more pics of paint chicks!
