For the longest time I've thought he was Black tail Buff, but he had too much brown color in the tail.What makes you think he’s pumpkin? His color looks the same as a New Hampshire red.
But Butter's isn't Red. Not even a Rusty Red.In the picture, he looks like a New Hampshire red. I’ve seen the NHR breed and others with the brownish color on their tail, I don’t think it proves that it’s pumpkin. Unless pumpkin is just another shade of red/buff?

Differences between Butters, & a New Hampshire is Butters seems to have a diluter, while they don't.
