The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

Uknown... Likely dominant but since it's a color mostly found on Game birds it will likely remain an Unknown until someone with space and time gets the chance to study and publish a study on it.
I'm thinking about playing around with genetics of this color sometime. I can post back with my experiences.

So, would breeding pumpkin to pure Wheaten give pumpkin males? Just trying to get an understanding.

Here's the Pumpkin left, & Buff right.

Wheaten would the best rout to do it.

Beautiful color, he is likely eb/eb, Co/Co, S/s+, Bl/bl+ he would provide very nice looking Easter Eggers when cross with EE hens.
I’ll take your advise and use my EE hens with him! Can you help me with what some of these hens are with the letters….to plug into the calculator so I could breed him to them …..or give me advice on what would be the coolest looking chicks from him. Here are a few of my hens one is a lavender olive egger. What about his blue ears will he produce offspring that have them? I love his dark skin and blue ears ; )

Your roosters’ coloring doesn’t look close enough to me to be absolutely certain that it’s pumpkin.. I posted my cockerel on a genetics thread a while back and I was told that he wasn’t pumpkin, despite the brownish color of his tail and him being half serama, a breed known for having pumpkin varieties.

With the splash, blue, or lavender hens you will likely get solid or almost solid blue, black, or splash chicks. With the other hens you’ll probably get more silver patterning.

The lavender looks like a Lavender Orpington.

Her genetic make up is E/E, lav/lav

The one with splotches is a Splash Easter Egger which she is E/E, Bl/Bl

The dark colored hens are actually eb/eb with melanizers like Melanotic and the pattern gene in heterozygous form which is eb/eb, Ml/ml+, Pg/pg+

The rooster Blue ears is due to the combination of the dark pigment and the white earlobe genes,

You can ask @nicalandia about his color.

My boy is still cockerel. Gonna update as he grows. Unless you're talking about the one we butchered last year.

His color is Pumpkin all right. Genetically he does not seem to be Pumpkin since he lacks any game ancestry, he is likely just a pumpkin colored cockerel(beautiful color by the way).
