The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

What should I call the coloration of my Chameleon Hen? She looks very reminiscent of a pied bird. She's losing the last bit of black in her chest, & butt fluff.
I'll get updated pictures tomorrow, or Thursday.View attachment 3302759
Since you don’t know what she is, I wouldn’t label her as anything yet

I mean temporarily, not permanently.

Calling her your "chameleon hen" seems to work for now.

Or you could call her a "confusing black and white hen." Yes, that's just stating the obvious, and you may have more than one that fit that description, but at least it distinguishes her from your other-colored hens and from all your roosters.

Chameleon is just a nickname, like her other original nickname Fat Lady, her real name is Sassy Pants.

Updated pictures of the pumpkin boy.

Every time I've seen this hen, she has been reminding me of a rooster mentioned in a past thread. It took me a little while but I found the thread and both appear to have a similar loss of pigments. Both your hen and the rooster in the tread also lost pigments in their shanks and beak as well. The overall consensus in that thread was that the loss of pigment was a form of vitiligo. I'm suspecting that something similar is the cause of the color loss in your hen.

While looking for that thread, I also found a Polish rooster that also lost pigments, including his beak: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/polish-roo-turning-white.1307415/#post-26081574

I've seen those.

I think my bird has something genetic related, rather then Auto Immune Disease related. All of the things I've read on vitiligo say it effects birds of a few months of age.

Previous posts I've made includes the parents. I can link them here for you, or just repost them.
