Yes, these are all about Smyth line chickens who are known to have a genetic trigger that causes them to develop vitiligo at a young age. This still does not mean that all vitiligo in chickens occurs at those ages. It literally says that they develop vitiligo early 'in this line' or refers to it as SL (Smyth line) vitiligo to distinguish from other forms of vitiligo in chickens.

Again, the definition of vitiligo is the loss of pigment in patches that previously were fully pigmented, often without a known cause. Your bird is exhibiting the definition of vitiligo. I'm not sure what you hope to gain by denying this?

I'm not gonna argue.
From what I see in my birds(personally), it's not vitiligo.

The only way to know 100% sure, is if the birds were taken in for lab analysis. This could be something completely different.

I can post the parent birds of my hen again if you'd like.

Sir, several of my friends' blue layer have laid such dark blue eggs recently. They are lushi and dongxiang.

And they are all hens laying the first egg, or hens resuming laying eggs.

Although such blue eggs don't often appear, it also shows that chickens can do this.

Yet, we don't know exactly how Piebaldism would effect chickens(since it hasn't been discovered yet). This could be it, which is part of the reason I'm gonna experiment with them this spring. Could be subtle on one bird, & then show it's full self after a molt, or two.
It's all just a theory.

I need to get down feather pictures of the mother anyway, to include with full body, & wing pictures.

Do you happen to know if white Cornish bantams are dominant or recessive? I can always test breed in the spring, but it would be nice to know ahead of time

White bantams should in theory be like their large counterpart. Recessive White.

Awesome, thanks. I have a pair from Ideal, but they don't don't that strain anymore so I need to breed to boost the number up myself most likely and it would have been much harder if they were dominants

Yes, apologies, I wasn't expecting such a response to my post I guess.

On a different subject, out of curiosity, can anyone explain to me what this down color indicates on this Cochin chick? He's out of what were supposed to be solid Blue x solid Blue eggs, but the reddish color in the face and kind of smoky belly color threw me off. I've tried looking things up on chick down color in the past, but it's one place where I seem to really struggle to retain the information I read on it. (Any recommended links to information on chick down color would also be nice so that I can bookmark it for future reference!)
