I don't know if it's specificly fibromelanism, but I do know it has to be bred for to be maintained. Most mosaics not bought directly from the original breeders don't have the blue skin any longerChickens like mosaics that have blue skin are a result of fibromelanism, correct?
I know they have Gypsy Face, which is also what Sumatras have which gives them a mulberry face, not exactly blue.Chickens like mosaics that have blue skin are a result of fibromelanism, correct?

Combs aren't blue. They also have a bit of silkie in them I believe. It's been a while since I was on the original website since they were too pricey for me to riskYes. They were bred from ACs.
I'd hoped to ask more to @nicalandia about their genetics. From what I've been able to figure out, I think id+ as well as Fibro genes are involved.
The breeder FB group for the Mosaics is full of questions on the specifics and few answers because the original breeder didn't have much to share and left the project due to family health issues.
Black skin under white skin is supposed to lead to blue. But there is also an iridescence showing up in some of my girls ears, which breeders are adamant they have.
(I don't believe combs could be blue because the skin is thin which is why they look red).

Ah, okay. Must have mixed that part up with the onyxes. There's so many AC mixes nowadaysNo silkie in them. They have 4 toes consistently and no signs of crest / beards.
The breeders agree that they come from Ayam Cemani as that's all they could get out of the original breeder. Their website for Gold Feather Farms is permanently down, but I don't remember it shedding much light.
This is just a theory, but I believe mosaics could have hedemora and hmong in them based on their feather and skin color.I mentioned combs re: that video. That I don't think it could happen.
