You shouldn’t. Only allowed for chickens with a very dirty but.
Sand baths are healthy for chickens. Water baths are not!

They benefit eggbound hens, chickens with flystrike, and chickens with a dirty butt.

Okay, never had thise issues and didn’t know it has benefits for those situations.
I did mean people should not wash a chicken just bc she is dirty.

I bathe my chickens. They have feather feet and legs.. helps to get caked stuff off and keep them healthy. And they love it!

Show chickens are groomed and I assume bathed all the time. I bathe some of my chickens using dawn soap pretty often and I've never had a problem.
