We recently attended the Michigan Chickenstock. My mother, 83 years old, decided to make a log cabin quilt block chicken pin cushion for each woman who attended. She spent weeks working on them and each day, as the number completed grew, she became more excited about attending the event. At Chickenstock she had a large wicker basket filled with her "flock" and each lady chose the one she wanted. Granny is still talking about how much she enjoyed giving them and watching the ladies trying to decide which color bird they liked. Most times doing something kind and unexpected gives you joy beyond measure.
