The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

If that's the next step I'll wait until May, thinking I may put him in a little local show the end of April. I wouldn't have thought them to be overly fluffed but maybe. Thank you

yay!! 2 of my 5 girls are now laying. Soon as they all start, I am going to hatch a few

These are a true bantams. I also have the bantam chocolates. I agree lots of people are trying to up their size. I have 3 different lines of the chocs and have been selecting my smallest ones to keep back for breeders so to continue breeding a true chocolate bantam Orp. I will also use these imported blacks to incorporate with them to keep their color nice and dark.
Didn't you get some bantams from me? How is the size compared to the others????

I went back and looked and I guess you didn't get any from me.... :(

Yes Jean I did! I got a pair from you. They are comparable to the size of Greenfires line. Smaller than Marcs line. I would say a lot more true to size. I am waiting for them to start laying!! I love them.

How do you breed to get bantam orpingtons? I have large buff orpington rooster. Can I breed him with any color orpington (blue, black, buff ect..)? I'm learning about chickens & have fell in love with the orpingtons they are so sweet. any advice would be helpful.

Countryhen, there is orpington bantams just like the standard orpingtons. They are just smaller. I would think crossing a buff with the colors you mentioned would yield some nice crosses.
