My hen Paloma has gone broody for the third time in the last 6 months! Her chicks are only 11 weeks old! I am breaking her this time though. :) Here she is looking all fluffy.

She's a beauty @Honora ! We've lucked out so far this winter, no broodies to report. But that probably has something to do with them not laying any eggs, for weeks. Tis the season.

She looks a lot skinnier than that normally; she was just puffed out from being broody. :) I hear you on the not laying thing; I am getting like 1 egg a week right now. I know there is a secret nest under a bush somewhere though that I just can't get to.

I would love to get more bantam orps but I decided it is too hard to get rid of the roosters around here. But when I move in 2018 I am going to get a bunch of bantam orps for sure & get into breeding. They are definitely my favorite breed. For now though I usually get full-size orp chicks for my broodies.

Hi @jkw8363! :welcome I'm in Oakland, I'm breeding a small flock of BBS. I started with Chocs a few years back but have steadily bred away from the color, while retaining good English SOP type. I wasn't happy with the BBS stock I could find, none looked like their LF import type "cousins", so I've set out to breed birds that do. I also have a single Buff hen, but hope to get at least a trio of Buff bantams sometime next year. I want to breed for a Wheaten bantam bird, & Buffs hold the genetics I need. Lovely type on that Lavender boy.
