Well, the doomed hatch is finally over. Out of 46 eggs I got two chickies. They are gorgeous little guys though. I think I may have figured out what happened. Not sure, but a guess anyway. Almost a dozen of the eggs were locally grown farm eggs. When I got them I was kinda shocked at how filthy they were but my mother wanted some general mixed chickies and they were $2 a dozen. They were mixed between both bators. That would explain how, if it was bacterial, it got in both bators, considering one was brand new. Anyway, here is a pic of the two cuties. A not great quality cell phone pic, unfortunately. I already took them to my mom's house....knew I would get attached if I didn't.

ahh - its ying and yang! I got my hatching fix at the state fair sort of today! They have a brand new "animal learning center" where they have different farm animals and their babies. They have three or four cabinet incubators, a giant "hatcher" and a giant brooder. They also had baby ducks and ostriches. I want them too. How is that little jap baby you hatched out about 6 weeks ago? And wasn't one of her hatch mates the most obnoxious trouble maker ever? I believe you named her "Lola'

LOL....yup, Lola. Still a brat.

They are all spoiled rotten now.

And beautiful, of course.

Kawaii (the Jap bantam) is absolutely stunning. Was actually thinking today I needed to get some new pics of her on her for you to see....I know you have a fondness for them. I will see about that tomorrow.

She is so little compared to her hatch mates and has enough attitude for 20 chickies!! An absolute doll.

That learning center sounds just too cool!!!

Believe it or not, these babies have the exact same parents.

My mom's Black Sex Link Roo and her EE hen.

The hen has several offspring and all are dark so I was really surprised!!!

Here are a couple of pics I took today of my EE I hatched out about the same time (the loud mouthed breech) and part of his/her Millie Troop. The other pic is of Cooper the "dirty white bird" who is getting to be quite handsome - I still wish I knew what crosses he was. The white/irredescent earlobes should cut down on my choices.

Chucky the Millie rooster is the biggest of my D'Uccles and he is really only about 1/2 the weight of "Bubby"

Awwwww........what cuties.

My ugly white mutt mix is getting prettier by the day, too.

She has a very slender, feminine look. LONG face and beak. Of course, both of her parents were lighter birds....Golden Campine and White Leghorn. She is quite an exotic looking beauty!!! I think yours has definite leghorn ancestry.

I'm thinking a leghorn X polish. I am still holding out hope my RIR is a pullet because I think they would make interesting babies. I caught him yanking at her tail feathers today and yesterday the RIR tried to sleep in the shed instead of the coop (their old home). There is something up between the two of them...

Awwwww.........a budding romance!!!

I bet the babies really would be adorable!! I am just amazed at how pretty some of my mutts have turned out to be!!! I found a couple of recent pics of Kawaii on my cell phone. They aren't great quality and the flash washed her out but you can see how adorable she is.

Here with her BLRW and one EE hatch mates.

She is so cute! And that BLRW - I got to see one up close and personal yesterday - They are soooo pretty. I have looked at chickens at the fair in the past - but this is the first year I have paid attention to chickens. I really need some of the breeds I just wanted before. BTWJ and Grey Japs, BLRW, and Salmon Faverolles plus Lemon Blue modern game. That is my new list. Along with Blue and Blue Wheaten Ameraucana.

Awesome pictures! I have my first batch in the bator and on day 11 and had no idea what they were going to do or what they would look like coming out. Thanks so much and CONGRATS!
