Oh my gosh y’all, it has been just so busy here! Finally feeling a bit more human after my surgery. The chicken life has been rough here lately 😭 One of my sweet Orloffs was taken by our first predator attack and I had to move a sneaky broody for her safety. She didn’t handle it and abandoned her 13 eggs, I felt so bad. With my surgery, I’m just not set up to hatch out chicks and was going to give her the chance to raise them. Then my favourite WTB didn’t respond to treatment for what looked like sour crop/vent gleet and passed tonight. So for a bit of cheering up, here’s my lovey Jellybean the blue bantam Cochin going to school this afternoon for show and tell
I've been missing u n wondered what happened! Life can really take its toll at times!
I'm so very sorry bout your babies! Idk how ill handle losing one I've raised from egg! I've only ever lost newly hatched chicks.
We are GLAD you are back and pray you recover soon!

Looks like you got a lavender at the very least!! 😍😍 How exciting! I can’t wait to see her all filled out! The other one will need to fry off first haha 🥰

Glad you're starting to feel better! So sorry for your losses, though. :hugs

Jellybean looks very handsome in his pretty pink harness. 🤭

That first picture sure looks like a lavender to me, too! The second one doesn't look chocolate to my eye, though. My chocolates have had a definite brown color to them right from the start. But, if he's male, he might carry the gene! Very nice foot feathering, too! As you can see, the Chocolate Cochins I ended up with didn't do so great in that department. 😅

U think she is lavender!?! I sure hope so!!!
The BBS just hatched and it is darker than the lavender/black but still has lil cream on feet n belly.
I didn't realize I have a CM which breeder said is Calico/Mille!!! Sure praying it hatches and is MILLE!!!

Haha, that's quite the mix! I hope you get a lot of colors from them. :fl

They are! They're practically full grown chickens now, outside in the big flock! This is what the two on the left in that picture look like now. The cockerel has been a very slow featherer, so he looks pretty sloppy still. 🤭 His name is Mack and the pullet is Freia.

Dang it...sent pics to breeder askin if she had pics of em when hatched and she said the LB one is black!!! Man!!!

Ah, man! Must be the lighting tricking me, then. I'm sorry if I got your hopes up! :barnie

Congrats on your babies! ❤️
Lost track of this thread.😊
Lavender will look very light silvery color at hatch.
If this one is black at least it will carry the lavender gene which you can still use in your breeding project.
Can’t wait to see them all fluffed up!😀

So I inadvertently got four of Hanabi’s eggs in my recent test hatch for two of my Silkie pullets. Eggs are the same color and size. I thought I was being so careful! Here are the four little cuties. They look exactly like my paint Silkies at hatch but then the smooth feathers start coming in and the little bits of red here and there. The folks who want the pure silkies are not interested in them, not quite sure what I’m gonna do with these guys.🤣
